Restaurant Iijima

This restaurant is run directly by Iijima Butchers and specialises in premium beef including Hitachi Wagyu Beef. Iijima was first opened in 1979 and the quality of both food and service has kept cemented the restaurant’s popularity both locally and with visitors from further afield.
Dishes include Hitachi Beef steaks, shabushabu hot pot, sukiyaki and hamburger steaks as well as set menu and full course options.
There are also a variety of dining settings to choose from including the relaxed main restaurant, counter seating, an outdoor terrace and Japanese-style private rooms for events.

Suifuan Soba Noodles

Suifuan makes soba noodles using Hitachi Akisoba buckwheat flour produced exclusively at three farms in Ibaraki. The buckwheat is ground using a traditional stone flour mill, while the dough is hand-kneaded.
Suifuan’s must-try dish for first-time visitors is cold soba noodles served with a soy-based dipping sauce, duck meat, and vegetables.

Mito Mon no Mae

Located in front of the Eastern Gate of Kairakuen Garden, Mito Mon no Mae offers a selection of local gourmet products, souvenirs, and cuisine unique to Mito. Recommended meals include the Wara Natto Set Meal, featuring Mito's famous straw-wrapped natto and small side dishes made with local ingredients, as well as tempura carefully fried by the chef, who trained at a long-established tempura restaurant. The restaurant is operated by Mito's Yoshikubo Sake Brewery and offers local sake and plum wine. An English menu is also available.
