SAZA COFFEE, launched in 1969, is an Ibaraki coffee brand comprised of 17 shop locations, two factories, and two farms. The staff travels to production areas in Brazil, Panama, and Kenya to personally select coffee beans. They also grow their own coffee plants in Columbia and sell and serve high-quality coffee roasted in-house.

The SAZA COFFEE Main Store displays a collection of masks and embroideries. There is a quaint, spacious space inside the store surrounded by the aroma of coffee with terrace seats decorated in soothing greenery that is popular among customers. There's even a gallery where various special exhibitions are held.

Japanese Restaurant Kyoyuzen Hanamiyako

This authentic restaurant incorporates traditional Kyoto cuisine and Edo (the original name of Tokyo) cuisine. It is the first restaurant in Ibaraki Prefecture to be recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries as a 'Culinary Masters', a nationally recognised award system for chefs. It is also featured in the renowned French restaurant guide "Gault et Millau Japan 2023," which represents one of the finest establishments in Ibaraki.
The owner, who has dreamed of becoming a chef since childhood, honed his skills in high-end ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurants). In 1993, he opened "Kyoyuzen® Hanamiyako®," where he traveled to production areas across the country to carefully select ingredients. As a pioneer of terroir, he is dedicated to using the rich ingredients of Ibaraki Prefecture, offering seasonal dishes throughout the year. Tanukian Tsutaya

Tanukian Tsutaya, located by the approach to Kasama Inari Shrine, was established in 1876. The restaurant, frequented by locals and tourists, uses Hitachi Akisoba, an Ibaraki buckwheat brand, in making their homemade noodles.

One fo the recommended options is Tsutaya no Soba Inari*. This dish, created by the third-generation owner, has become a local specialty.

There are 88 seats in the spacious interior, which has an elegant ambiance and a sense of history. Monzen soba, buckwheat noodle ground with a stone mill in the shop, makes the perfect souvenir. Those visiting Kasama Inari Shrine should not miss Tsutaya.

*Soba inari is short for soba inarizushi. While inarizushi is an abura-age (deep-fried tofu) stuffed with rice, soba inari is stuffed with soba (buckwheat noodle).

Vegan Cafe Terra

Located in the heart of Mito City, Vegan Cafe Terra is a short walk from Mito Station's North Exit and close to tourist destinations, including Kairakuen and Kodokan. As Mito City's first vegan restaurant, you can try vegan versions of classic Japanese favorites like ramen and curry rice. There are also delicious salads and a range of vegan cakes.
The chef and owner Mitsuyo spent a year learning vegan cuisine in Kyoto, a city with a long history of vegetarian cuisine. He also has a qualification in plant-based and whole food cooking.
