Hot Springs/Public Baths
Yamadaya Ryokan is a traditional hot spring inn located in the peaceful Yokokawa Onsen area, surrounded by picturesque satoyama hills and tranquil rural landscapes.
The hot spring, first discovered in 1753, is an alkaline simple sulfur spring renowned for its beautifying properties. Known as a "Bijin no Yu" or "Hot Spring for Beautiful Skin," it offers excellent moisturizing effects and helps promote healthy circulation. The bath area features a spacious, open design with high ceilings that extend up to the second floor, creating a bright and relaxing atmosphere.
The rooms at Yamadaya Ryokan are traditional Japanese-style rooms (washitsu), ranging in size from 6 to 16 tatami mats. Each room offers a charming view of the surrounding countryside, allowing guests to enjoy the changing beauty of the four seasons in a serene setting.
The cuisine is prepared using mineral-rich natural spring water and carefully selected local ingredients. Guests can savor the seasonal flavors of the region, featuring specialties such as Rose Pork, yamame (mountain trout), iwana (trout), ayu (sweetfish), sashimi-style konjac, maitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and more — all locally sourced for freshness and quality.
Yamadaya Ryokan is also conveniently located near popular sightseeing spots such as Fukuroda Falls, the Ryujin Suspension Bridge, and Hanazono Gorge, making it an ideal base for exploring the area
