Located in front of the Eastern Gate of Kairakuen Garden, Mito Mon no Mae offers a selection of local gourmet products, souvenirs, and cuisine unique to Mito. Recommended meals include the Wara Natto Set Meal, featuring Mito's famous straw-wrapped natto and small side dishes made with local ingredients, as well as tempura carefully fried by the chef, who trained at a long-established tempura restaurant. The restaurant is operated by Mito's Yoshikubo Sake Brewery, and offers local sake and plum wine. An English menu is also available.

Kakigoya

Kakigoya, managed by Iiokaya Suisan, is the ideal spot to savor the area's fresh seafood bounty. Visitors first select their preferred seafood and then grill it on-site to savor the delicious flavor. In addition, the shop offers a diverse menu, including kaisendon (a bowl of rice topped with sashimi) and teishoku (set meals).

In particular, the oysters, a specialty of Oarai, are characterized by their plump texture and rich flavor. An especially popular item is the oysters steamed in a tin container. There is also an all-you-can-eat option for steamed oysters.

The shop boasts a spacious eating area, so families and groups of friends can spend some enjoyable time together here.
