2024.04.30The 43d Himatsuri 2024: Pottery Festival in Kasama!

Every year in Kasama, a pottery city recognized as a Japan Heritage site, the annual Himatsuri ceramic festival takes place from late April to early May. This year marks its 43rd edition!

Around 200 kilns display their works under tents set up on the vast open grounds of Geijutsu no Mori Park.

The works presented here are in various styles. There are cute tiny chopstick stands, stylish tableware, avant-garde interior decorations, colorful figurines, as well as accessories such as earrings and pendants, and many other items.

There are also workshop corners where even little children can try their hand at pottery. In the central part of the festival, there is a spacious food court area offering various snacks, like the local specialty – Kasama Inari Zushi, or the festival-famous one – pizza served on a large tree leaf. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are also available.
