2024.01.16A Subculture Festival: Exclusive Chance to Visit a Professional Film Set! January, 27-28

Warp Station Edo is one of the very few outdoor shooting spots for historical dramas and movies in Japan. This expansive 5.5-hectare site for commercial filming features open sets and indoor filming areas representing various periods of Japan, starting from the Sengoku period (“Warring States period,” 15th-16th centuries) through the Edo (1603-1868) and Meiji (1868-1912) periods, and up to the Showa period (1926-1989). Warp Station Edo is generally not open to the public, but there is a unique opportunity to visit this filming set facility on January 27 (Sat.) and 28th (Sun.) without any entrance fee!

During these two days, the facility will host “A Subculture Festival.” Visitors will be able to stroll around and take unique photos on the streets, which, like a time machine, will transfer them back to different historical times! Cosplay fans are also welcome – don’t hesitate to appear in your favorite look or ask to take pictures together with cosplayers.
In addition, there will be cosplayed slacklining walking performances by world-top artists and social media talents. Moreover, visitors can participate in slacklining hands-on experiences as well. On January 28th, there is an opportunity to indulge in the enthusiastic Japanese idol culture with an idol music live event.

No worries about having a meal; “kitchen cars” – food trucks – will offer traditional street snacks like yakisoba (fried noodles) and other light meals made from Ibaraki local products.

To participate in the event, it is required to make a reservation online.
