Jikyuan is a renowned soba restaurant located in Hitachiota City, one of the most famous areas for Hitachi Aki Soba, a local buckwheat specialty.
Popular among soba enthusiasts, the restaurant often attracts long lines on weekends. The owner personally cultivates the buckwheat using traditional slash-and-burn farming methods, producing soba entirely in-house—from cultivation to milling. The noodles are fresh, springy, and rich in aroma. In addition to classic zaru soba, a must-try is the hearty kenchin soba, a local specialty noodle soup packed with vegetables.
The restaurant is housed in a charming thatched-roof building, reminiscent of a European country cottage.
