Inaba Shuzo Brewery

Founded in 1867, Inaba Shuzo uses spring water from Mount Tsukuba to brew sake. In addition to the rice and pure water that forms the basis of all good sake, Inaba Shuzo carries out each step of the brewing process by hand using skilled local staff. This results in a refined and elegant beverage unique to the slopes of Mount Tsukuba.

Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition

This firework display first began in 1925 to commemorate the Kasumigaura Naval Air Force members killed in WWI. The event also shines a light on tourism in the local area. In 1947, it was revamped as a competition where fireworks manufacturers and experts nationwide could show off their skills.

Ibaraido Forest & Sylvanian Park

This recreational park in southern Ibaraki is the perfect destination for family trips. It features a European theme with plenty of beautiful flower gardens, forest areas, and European-style buildings. The park will easily keep the whole family entertained all day. Attractions include getting up close to farm animals, including alpaca and sheep, pottery workshops, and a treetop adventure playground.
After working up an appetite while exploring the park, head to the barbecue area for lunch or visit one of the park's restaurants. In keeping with the park's European theme, food options include freshly-baked pizza and bread alongside Japanese curry.
