Anko no Yado Marumitsu Ryokan

Anko no Yado Marumitsu Ryokan, a popular spot among food connoisseurs, is a traditional inn renowned for its monkfish cuisine.
The inn offers six types of baths, including the Space Bath—said to be the deepest in Japan—and the Collagen Bath, which is rich in collagen and known for its beautifying effects, making it especially popular. Guests can rejuvenate both mind and body in this soothing environment.
The most popular dishes are, naturally, the highly nutritious monkfish dishes that have been treasured since long ago.
Guests can enjoy a wide variety of dishes, including the classic monkfish nabe (hot pot) and collagen-rich dobujiru, a soup made using every part of the monkfish.
All guest rooms are spacious Japanese-style rooms designed for a comfortable stay. There are two types: a 12.5-tatami room (~20.25 m²) and a 16-tatami room (~25.92 m²) with twin beds.

Satoumitei Kinparo Hontei

Standing by the seaside, Satoumitei Kinparo Hontei is a small inn with eight rooms, renovated from a long-established ryokan founded in 1888.

Inside, the warmth of wood creates a relaxing space where guests can walk barefoot comfortably. With a “seaside villa” theme, all rooms face the ocean, and some feature wooden terraces or semi-open-air baths. The large public baths include two types: a stone bath that blends seamlessly with the sea view, and a wooden bath imbued with the scent of cypress.

The inn serves simple, rustic dishes made from the delicacies of the mountains and the sea.

It offers a serene atmosphere where guests can escape the hustle of everyday life.

Kappo Ryokan Izumiso

Izumiso, a traditional Japanese inn next to Lake Kasumigaura, prides itself on its freshwater fish cuisine. Their simmered carp cooked with a secret sauce and unagi kabayaki (eel fillet skewers grilled in a rich sauce) are especially popular dishes. Guests can enjoy an extensive view of Lake Kasumigaura from their rooms or visit the Jomon Gallery on the premises where works from artists in the local and neighboring areas are exhibited. Izumiso is located near Ring-Ring Road, the national cycle route, and is recognized as a cyclist-friendly inn. Not only can you rent and return your bicycle here (reservations required), but the inn also provides washers and dryers. Plus, there are some rooms where bicycles are allowed to be brought inside!

Kappo Ryokan Shiroyama

Shiroyama, conveniently located near tourist attractions, is a kappo ryokan* renovated from a historic Japanese restaurant. The inn offers a traditional Japanese-style accommodation experience focused on hospitality.

There are eight guest rooms, with six of them decorated in a style inspired by Kyoto culture. All rooms are equipped with private baths and toilets. Free WiFi is also available.
Guests can enjoy exquisite kaiseki cuisine in private dining rooms. There is also a large public bath in the ryokan, overlooking the Japanese garden and filled with fragrant rose petals.

Ocean Front Hamada Kan

Ocean Front Hamada Kan is a small, traditional Japanese inn that was renovated and reopened in 2014. It faces the ocean with Ajigaura Beach right nearby. The seven available rooms are spacious with various concepts. There are rooms with large windows and balconies allowing you to enjoy the sea, or with terraces on the hillside to gaze at the sky. You'll find yourself soothed by the ocean view and the sound of the waves in a private space.

Another charming feature of the inn is the specialized cuisine made with Ibaraki ingredients. The seafood is bought at the auction every morning by the owners themselves and served as dishes corresponding to the seasons. The crab seafood soup is especially popular. After your meal, enjoy latte art made by the young proprietress with SAZA COFFEE, a local blend. The inn has great accessibility to Hitachi Seaside Park, a scenic spot famous for its nemophila flowers and kochia bushes.

Tobitaso Inn

This charming simple seaside inn is known for its hot springs. The interior is filled with the pleasant warmth of wood. The breakfast is prepared with home-grown rice and vegetables, providing a wholesome experience. It is very convenient to use the municipal bus Kaiyu-go to reach the inn as there is a bus stop right in front of it. The natural hot spring inside the inn is a sodium chloride spring, known to be effective for muscle pain, joint pain, bruises, sprains, minor burns, and poor circulation-induced chilliness. This is a perfect option to relieve the fatigue after a long day.

Mount Tsukuba Edoya Inn

Located in front of Mount Tsukuba Shrine, Edoya is a ryokan or traditional Japanese-style inn. The inn is popular with shrine visitors and hikers due to its convenient location. The open-air hot spring uses fresh spring water from the Cedar Spring, which is said to promote healthy skin. The spring water is also used to make the inn’s original sake brand.

Hagiya Ryokan Inn

This traditional Japanese-style inn boasts a great location off the Pacific Coast.
The inn’s guest rooms offer stunning sea views, while the hot spring baths are supplemented with seawater and seaweed. Furthermore, the restaurant serves local seafood focusing on the slow-food movement. During winter months, the menu includes anglerfish hotpot, a regional specialty of Ibaraki.
There’s no need to book an overnight stay to enjoy everything Hagiya has to offer. Visitors can book a day plan with a meal and visit the hot springs.

Sakanaya Honten Inn & Restaurant

This traditional Japanese-style inn has a relaxed, casual atmosphere.
Guests are served breakfast and dinner in their rooms. The menu includes locally-caught seafood like anglerfish, Iwagaki oysters, and Kashimanada clams, as well as Hitachi Wagyu Beef dishes.

Tsukiori Onsen Takimi no Yu

Tsukiori Onsen, located in the upper reaches of Fukuroda Falls, is a relaxing hot spring. Local efforts entirely carry out the management of the facility.

Ryokan Kobayashiro

Situated below Oarai Shrine, this Japanese-style seaside hotel prides itself on its stunning ocean views. Guest rooms offer views over the beach, including the sunrise and moonrise over the Pacific Ocean.
Dinner is served inside the room and features fresh, local seafood. If you visit during the colder months, definitely taste Oarai’s most famous fish dish: anglerfish hotpot.

Omoide Romankan, Fukuroda Hot Springs

Located near Fukuroda Falls, this luxurious inn is famed for its alkaline hot springs. With a pH of 8.9., the hot springs are said to make skin smoother and better-looking. Guest rooms with private baths are also available.
